So Does this make us Film Makers? Directors?
All that has changed is that we have the quality, that was only available to the film studios , at our disposal. (Sound familiar ?)

We give out about the influx of "Photographers" onto the market, Undercutting the "Professionals" This is because the high end digital cameras are affordable to everyone.
I have done a few Directors courses and it was a huge eye opener.
I have always been a lover of movies. The lighting, the film making process; It has always fascinated me.
One thing I dont want to do is become a "I do a bit of film making myself" kind of person.
You can imagine the conversations going on in the film world. "All the photographers now think they are film makers"
A few photographer have made the transition very successfully; Sean Ellis , Anton Corbign to name just two.
Stanley Cubrick was a photographer

I really think we need to do this and do this right. We can now offer a new service to our clients. At the top digital quality level.
We have all seen the photographic quality churned out by the new additions to the industry .
Now Im not saying all the new photographers are of low quality but its not "just pushing a button" . You all know my thoughts on that little chestnut. :-)
But we really need to be careful of the quality we produce with this new technology at our fingertips. We MUST keep our standards.
This new string to our bow is here and its now. So we should embrace it with both hands and make it ours.
We as photographers look at situations as photographers so we can make movies with that look and feel that we are known for.

The style that we all have built up as individual photographers can be put into movies with the lighting and poses and composition but the film making rules must be obeyed , crossing the line, continuity etc etc.

There are interesting times ahead. Our industry is changing fast . Lets enjoy it.
